Cody Munier is an accomplished figurative sculptor and visual arts educator. After completing studies in painting at the Savannah College of Art & Design, he developed a passion for figurative sculpture. He was awarded an internship at the Monterey, California studio of world-renowned sculptor Richard MacDonald, a relationship that would ultimately lead to a 10-year engagement as MacDonald‘s senior studio assistant. Through observation, intense training and dedicated practice, Cody’s figurative sculptures quickly reached a level of sophistication and expertise. The resulting works, inspiring and evocative, often surpassed the efforts of established professionals twice his age.

Cody‘s expertise in anatomy and dynamic motion combines with the capacity to portray candid, expressive poses. He creates works that infuse familiar moments with a grace and classical elegance that elevates them to exceptional. His portrayals of athletes combine elegance and power. His training and studies in psychology further informed his depictions of the human face, making them candid, revealing and personal. His works include small studies to life size statues, portraits and monumental sculptures, for both private and public commissions.

As an educator he has taught group workshops with leading anatomy expert Andrew Cawrse, instructed sculpture and professional business practices at the Laguna College of Art and Design, that included lectures, live demonstrations on anatomy, and sculpting the figure with energy and dynamic motion. He also provides private tutorials and workshops in anatomy and figurative sculpture.

Cody currently resides in Las Vegas Nevada, where he recruits local athletes and accomplished gymnasts and performers from the Cirque du Soleil to pose for his expanding portfolio of figurative bronze. He continues to consult with organizations and firms on sculpture, design and artistic public projects. Cody’s work is featured in select private collections and galleries.
